Good evening neighbors,

Today I read a neighbor’s comment and decided to add some information to the discussion.

Is household Clorox bleach safe for your pool? The answer, in short, is yes. Household Clorox bleach is made up of the same contents as the Chlorine used in pools, Sodium Hypochlorite. The only difference is typically related to the strength of the liquid, the pool Chlorine being a slightly stronger solution than the household Clorox bleach.

Keep in mind that certain household bleach products may contain additives for different fragrances. Although these would not harm your pool, it is an unnecessary product to add into your pool.

Pool chlorine usually runs about $2.00 to $2.50 per gallon depending on where you buy it. I would always recommend a chlorine purchased specifically for your pool but as a last resort, household Clorox bleach can be used without issues.

Sincerely your neighbor in Magnolia Lakes,
